Hekthor Kontroll La Nueva Imagen Del Merengue. Merengue for the Americas. A native of the Dominican Republic, Hekthor Kontroll cannot remember any part of his life void of music. From a very early age, he has been singing(and dancing) to the rythms of his homeland: al ritmo del Merengue. At 7, his family migrated to New York City, where he integrated with the local church choir, Los Colosenses, as a lead singer. At 17 he became a band boy for the famed group, Algorimo, (the first Merengue band to appear on MTV Internacional). During his tenure with band, he befriended bandleader and songwriter, Jaadgi Akanni - a friendship that today brings Hekthor to the limelight: a collaboration with Mr.Akanni and Mexican producer Juan Ocadis, El Niño Sin Juicio...Hekthor Kontroll is born. Although Hekthor resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, his music is universal for all to enjoy.
